LAUREN

Our resident meme queen, Lauren is always a positive figure in the chat and on site, and we're glad to have her! It's a blast to watch her colorful array of characters interact with others, from SF native Theo to our favorite misguided stepsister Alex. Whether she's plotting, posting, or just being herself, she never fails to bring smiles to our faces.

IT'S MY RIGHT TO BE HELLISH
tau stian adebowale. 646. I hope this is ok! Lemme know if you need anything.
Tau was walking a very thin edge. This was his gala, not his entirely but some kind of party to honor the city's finest or something that she was sure he'd explained when he'd timidly—where was the fight in him?—asked Nyah to accompany him here almost two weeks ago now. She had agreed of course, she might not be able to stand him at home, or currently here, but they did have an image to protect. They were married, the human word still felt strange to use in respect of their relationship, and that meant appearing alongside him at things like this. She had done her part. She'd spent an outrageous sum on the dress she wore, had bothered with make up—something she usually avoided as it made her skin feel clogged and strange and it must have worked some kind of magic over Tau because she'd thought she had seen a flash of that old hunger in his eyes before he'd murmured something about being late. Upon arriving she had hung on his arm like a trophy, something she utterly hated, and made small talk with his coworkers and their dates, fawned over him—she'd even kissed his cheek—while he accepted an award for his department. She had been everything he'd wanted. No trace of her bitterness had shown through. She'd been as she once had before she'd lost him and her daughter.

And yet…it wasn't enough.

There he was flirting as if she wasn't standing halfway across the room. And while she told herself over and over again that it shouldn't matter, it did. And it didn't matter that she was likely being baited by him—surely in response to that passing hungry spark she'd briefly seen—it was working. Too well. It took everything in her not to march over to that trollop and claw her eyes out. How dare she. And how dare he. If he wanted to strut around here and snap up some low hanging fruit, he should have come by himself. He was hers. Bound by deeper ties than a marriage could convey and yet, he seemingly threw it in her face. If he thought she was going to stand here and be made a fool of, he had another thing coming. A low growl rumbled in her throat , it was far from threatening in this form but it emboldened her nonetheless as she politely excused herself from whatever meaningless conversation she had been supposedly participating in and started towards her husband with something like anger in her eyes.

She didn’t blame the trollop, not really, though her lioness heart bade her to bite and tear at the intruder who dared to lay her hand on Tau or look at him in that nauseating way. The fact was, he cut a nice figure in his suit and there was something about tonight that had a modicum of the lion he used to be shining through. Confident. Collected. And it wasn't like he had been discouraging her attention. And it was his refusal to do so that goaded Nyah into action. He may be willing to be sullied by this tramp but she wasn't. And that woman would surely notbe coming into the home she shared with that idiot. Not that she thought Tau would let things go that far. Games were one thing, but surely he wouldn't disgrace himself in this way. Either way, she'd nip this in the bud right now.

Close enough to them now to hear snippets of the flirtatious conversation going on between them, her hand shot out to grip Tau’s arm in a claw-like vise. “Who's this, darling?” She purred, voice sweet but eyes glinting dangerously as she looked between them. She'd get to the bottom of this, send the girl away, then she'd deal with her mate. It seemed he needed reminding of who he belonged to.
