VULTURES
THESE NEW FLOCKS ARE NOTHING BUT
There weren't many things that truly frightened her, but this one could certainly make its way up there if she let it. As a being composed of fear, it wasn't in her nature to feel it herself, but to feed off of it from others and induce it in them for that purpose. Humanity and the lingering gold she would every now and then see in a blink of an eye disrupted that in her and didn't quite let go all the way when she crossed over into the animated world. It was disgusting, really, but there didn't seem to be much she could do about it. Unless she wanted to isolate herself and feel nothing but rage and darkness, and probably go a little out of her mind in the process, then she'd have to deal with feeling as humans did. The feeling, however, wasn't the problem at the minute. The problem was the place.

From the moment she had set foot on the metallic floor, her hooves echoing despite her sand, she knew it wasn't earthbound. For one, her sand was off; she could feel it less densely packed than it usually was, staying together but potentially less under her control, or more slow to control. For another thing, where the portal had let her in had windows and she could see space through the glass, so even if she hadn't sensed her own gravitational changes, it was obvious. The nightmare heavily considered turning right back around and going home, to do this some other day, but she was already here; she may as well get it over with. It wasn't like she needed to be there long, just enough time to make sure her memories stayed strong.

She moved more slowly than she liked, but it happened every time she came back. As natural as the form was to her, it took a minute to get used to walking with four legs again, and the fetlock she had lost to the darkness when fighting to flee her home was glaringly obvious every time-- and yet... It must have been the space thing, some expansion of her sand making it feel like her foot was a little better. It had never made a budge in growing back, if her sand could do that. She supposed perhaps it could, maybe if Pitch helped her, but hah-- she almost snorted thinking about it. Her papa, her creator, and she had no idea where to look for him in either world. What a credit to nightmares she was. Still, maybe if she could find something reflective and big enough to see herself in, she would take a look. It was difficult to look at the back half of herself like this. If she could have seen more easily, she would have noticed the sliver of gold sheen ever so slowly making its way over the blue-black shimmering sand of her lost foot. As it was, she had decided not to pay it more attention than it needed, blew it off as just feeling weird in space, a fair conclusion as her whole body felt out of place here, and moved further into the space station.

It was cold here. Not especially more than she would expect, when she thought about it, but still surprising to feel. She huffed quietly, not enjoying herself so far. One trip around ought to have been enough, then she could go back home. The place couldn't be too big, could it? Well... maybe. She'd never been here before, but she did have a knack for knowing which direction to go and remembering precisely which ways she had turned. Getting lost simply didn't happen to nightmares, or at least it was rare. If it felt like time was gaining on her and the portal would close before she finished the circle around, she was confident she could turn back and find exactly where she'd come from. Her confidence made her feel a little less uneasy here. The silence was heavy. If there was anyone else here, they were being awfully still. It unnerved her, but she could stop anytime she wanted, just stand there and get a hold of herself.

The windows to the outside were also a surprising comfort. Space itself didn't do anything for her, but looking out there, it wasn't what she thought space would look like. Sure, she could have easily hopped online while she was Mel and looked these things up, but it was one of those things that had never occurred to her before, and actually being here, seeing it slowly churn in and out of itself in the distance, and tiny pinpricks of stars-- it was beautiful. Even a nightmare like her could appreciate that. Maybe the Man in the Moon was on to something, at least locationally. For a moment, she lost herself just watching, a foreboding figure. An almost skeletal horse of glittering black sand, very deep purple or blue depending on the angle of the light, her mane and tail wispy veins slowly waving in the slow space air, burning gold eyes trained on the expanse beyond the glass. She knew she looked like part of the darkness. She just hoped if she had to encounter anyone, they'd realize by behavior she only looked that way.

The little pup liked to explore even though he could only go out when the moon was out, the opposite from his twin. He found himself in this weird place, paws touching cold metal, his eyes darted around as if trying to figure out where he was. Aodh had never seen any sort of place like this, his nails clicking as he slowly walked over toward a window to look out it. He stood on his hind paws, eyes barely able to see out the window. But what he had been able to see, his eyes widened some seeing that out the window was all of space.

He couldn’t believe his eyes, he slowly pushed himself away from the window and went back down to all four paws. The wolf pup slowly made his way down the hall that he was in, starting to explore what he could. When he found a room, he would walk into it, sniff around and just see what he could find, he couldn’t help but let his curiosity take over. Once he was done sniffing around, he made his way out and started to pad on down the hall again. After few steps he stopped where he was walking when he noticed some sort of creature in the shadows.

He slowly backed some seeing the creature, not sure if it would come after him or what. “Hello, are you alright?” his voice low as he tried to keep himself calm. It was taking just about everything to keep himself from turning and running from the creature. He took a deep breath before forcing himself to walk toward the creature, trying to get a better look at it. Aodh had kept his eyes on her the whole time. “My name is Aodh.” he was just trying to keep himself all calm and collective because all he knew was the maybe the creature could be a friend.

VULTURES
THESE NEW FLOCKS ARE NOTHING BUT
The more she stayed put, the more the silence was actually comforting, even though its presence was still a little overbearing and weighty. There was still too much of it, but it slowly started to bother her less as time passed. The real world was abundantly noisy and chaotic. Space had its own kind of chaos, but not here, not right now. This place, at least, was pure calm. Maybe that was a bad thing, a ruse even perhaps, but maybe not. The nightmare chose to try and enjoy it the best she could, as long as she was willing to stay there.

She saw movement from the corner of her eye and turned her head, feeling the sand of her mane shift with her. The fact that she wasn't used to that anymore signaled she'd put this visit off for too long. It seemed some kind of canine was with her, a small one, and he could speak, which was entirely unfair. There were so many animals that could inexplicably talk in the animated world, yet she had to be one of the few that couldn't. It figured. She would just have to figure out another way to communicate. She didn't move, but she did not her head once, a little exaggerated just to get the point across that it really was supposed to be a nod and not some twitch of agitation. When he (or she, heck if she knew, but the little voice sounded more male to her than female) started to come closer, she tilted her head, curious. He was a brave one, wasn't he? Well, it helped that she was so calm right now and not exuding any of her fear magic. Even so, she knew what she looked like.

Oh, bless him; he even introduced himself. Had that ever happened before, on this side? Not that she could recall, anyway. That was amusing. Interesting, too. She snorted briefly, one of the most unaggressive sounds she could make. My name... None of the nightmares were given names, come to think of it. They all just were, collective beings of darkness. Names hadn't seemed necessary. My name really is Mel, I suppose. Not that he would know, unless this little pup could also somehow read minds. She brought her head down slowly, peering at him curiously with her large, unblinking eyes that looked like glowing coals more than eyes, and more than anything she was trying very hard not to scare him. That was a first.

The young pup’s head titled as he watched the creature, letting his paws carry him closer to it. He could feel his curiosity prickle as he looked the creature over, part of him wanted to run but the other part knew that there was really no place to run to at the moment. Once he had made his way over the creature, he watched it, head titling slightly more as he sniffed at it. The creature didn’t seem to be mean or want to hurt him in any way, his tail wagging some as he watched it.

Ears twitching when she had snorted, he moved slightly before he ended up sitting down near her. “I’m guessing you can’t talk. But that is alright, you seem really nice.” tail wagging some as he looked up at her. Aodh didn’t feel any sort of fear, just excitement over finding someone else on this weird metal thing. “We can wait for the portal to come back and cross back over. Then we can talk and you can tell me your name.” his tail wagging more as he spoke, his eyes big as he looked up at her. He had never seen anything like her before, she looked sort of like a horse but he knew that she really wasn’t.

Aodh’s ears had went down then as he glanced down, feeling a bit bad now. “I mean we don’t have to if you don’t want to. If you want I can walk away and act like I never saw you.” he let himself glance up toward her, hoping that she would let him stay with her until the portal came back here. He really did want to find out more about her but also would understand if she didn’t want him around.
