She couldn't remember how long she had been walking, how far. It took ages of wandering around before she found a place that looked familiar to her. Finally, she could feel that she was going to make it home, after years of yearning for nothing more. She was hungry, parched, and she knew that she was weak and malnourished by the way that her legs could barely support her. Still, she pushed on, determined to return to her family who surely thought she was dead by now. She could only imagine how they had reacted upon hearing of her disappearance. A part of her wondered if they still thought of her, but she would quickly dismiss the thought as being silly.

Finally she could see it, the familiar home she had shared with Caleb and their kids. She hoped that he hadn't decided to move during the time that she had been gone, otherwise this trip was certainly going to take her much longer. Perhaps she should have gone to the cops first, but her mind was focused on one thing... The cops could wait. Surely by now they would have stopped searching for her anyways.

Making her way up to the door, she paused, wondering if she should just try and let herself in or knock. Surely no matter which way it went, it would come as a shock to whoever saw her first, but perhaps walking into the home when they weren't expecting it would be more jarring. They surely were long passed hoping she would stroll in, and hearing the door open would likely set off alarm bells rather than glimmers of hope and expectation.

So, with a deep breath, she rose a shaky hand and knocked lightly on the door a few times. While she waited, it felt like she was holding her breath. Her head felt dizzy with emotion and it was taking so much of her willpower not to just burst through the door and find her family. But no, she would wait with hands nervously twisting in front of her and her eyes fixed on the door.

"Lex, the sitter will be here any moment! I want you and your brother washed up and in your pj's before I leave!" his voice called from his bedroom as his nimble fingers worked their way up his chest, fastening the buttons of a new shirt that his assistant had picked out for him. It was paisley, and she had insisted that it looked nice, but Caleb wasn't sure now that he had it on. Would Katya think it was nice...or dorky? That would not be a good impression to make upon a woman he wished to pursue. Making a face, he wandered through the halls of his home, stopping at the threshold of the open bathroom door, where his two children were actually brushing their teeth. Honestly, he owed Liv big time for the turnaround in his kids' behavior. Easily the best sitter he'd ever found; who knew a chance encounter at a bar would have led him to such an extraordinary friend?

"OK, what do you guys think?" he asked, opening his arms wide and giving a slight model turn, hamming it up and making his children laugh. "but seriously, this shirt? Is it too..."
"It's ugly, Daddy" his daughter said matter of factly, spitting the remnants of toothpaste into the sink. His son nodded in agreement, but said nothing, as his mouth was full of Listerine.

"I thought as much. Thanks, guys" he said as he started back towards his bedroom, taking off the shirt as he went. He'd have to remember to donate it later, though he doubted that even the downtrodden would want such a cast off. Frowning, his nails scratched at his bare chest as he reopened his closet, pulling down one of his old standbys - white button down, crisp, clean, and went with everything. As he pulled it from the hanger, he heard a knock upon his front door. That had to be Liz to watch the kids. Pulling his arms through the sleeves, he shouted "Coming!" and made his way to the door, opening it before looking at his guest.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, Liz, I--" he froze as his glance carried upward, falling upon the delicate face that he had thought was nothing more than a memory, now. His breath caught in his chest as he stood there, mouth agape, unsure if he were imagining her or not.

"Norah..." his voice was shaky when he finally spoke, his eyes taking in every inch of her. She was in a state; she looked as though she barely had the strength to stand on her own. "I..is it...are you...?" he stammered, starting to inhale and exhale heavily, fingers reaching out numbly but almost afraid to touch incase the apparition vanished.

Norah's eyes darted up when the door opened and seeing him there, standing in the doorway... It seemed almost surreal. For so long she'd never expected to see her family again, she'd held onto as much hope as possible, but there had been many days of dread... Days where she started to worry that she'd forget what they looked like. Every night she ran through everything. Hair color, eye color, anything she could think of she'd list off. Now here he was, looking just as shocked as she would have expected.

"Hi...Caleb." She said with labored breathing. "Yeah... Yeah it's me." She said. Despite him not finishing the question, she knew what he wanted to say. Was she real, was it really her? She wondered just how different she looked beyond the fleeting glances she saw in storefront windows along the way here. Her eyes glanced down as he reached his hand hesitantly towards him. She brought her hand to his, gently lacing her fingers between his. She felt a weight lifted from her shoulders. Finally after so long, real human connection, a real touch beyond someone holding down her arm to get a needle into her.

She wasn't sure if she could stay on her feet much longer, already she could feel herself really holding on to him for support. Her other hand moved to grasp the door frame. "I'm sorry." She said softly, feeling herself overcome with heavy emotion. "I'm s-so... So sorry. I tried, I tried to get back for so long." She muttered, feeling tears welling up in her eyes. It didn't clue in right away that he didn't know what she was talking about, that he still didn't know what had happened to her.

His world froze. It was as though ice was pumping through his veins, and he was there, standing on that frozen precipice with Anya all those years ago...but this was not Anya...this was his other lost love. He swallowed hard as he stared out at the mother of his children, a woman who looked as though she had been dragged through hell. She was thin and unkempt...but she was alive.

He gasped as she reached out a frail hand, taking his in hers, and he felt tears begin to well up at the corners of his eyes. She was solid, she was real. With his free hand, he reached out to stroke her face, his hands getting caught in the tangle of her messy hair. His Norah...his wife...she was alright.

"Oh my god, Norah" he couldn't stand it any longer; as delicately as he could, he pulled her into a warm embrace, wrapping his strong arms around her body, silently realizing how small she had become. He pulled her head close to his as he kissed her several times upon the forehead, tears stingingblike bees as he tried to hold them back.

"I thought...I thought I lost you..."he whispered in a choked voice, holding her close to him, never wanting to let her ho in case this was just a vivid dream.

His hand against her cheek sent a warm wave through her. It was comforting, and overwhelming in a way. After so long of having no positive physical contact, it was something she'd craved for a long time. Her eyes closed for a moment as she enjoyed the touch, the soothing warmth sending a sense of comfort and safety.

He pulled her into a hug and she took in a sharp, shuttering breath. Her arms slowly circled around him and she placed her head into the nape of his neck. It felt relieving to have someone holding her, it helped her with her struggle to stay on her feet. Her eyes closed as his lips pressed against her forehead over and over. She felt tears well up in her eyes and she smiled weakly as it all settled in. She was home, she was safe, he was still here. "I thought you did too. But... I'm home now, I'm home." She said softly, having thought many times that she wouldn't be able to get home.

"Th-The kids? Are they okay?" She asked softly as she gazed up at him. She moved one hand to wipe the tears from her cheeks. She was getting dizzy and she felt herself clinging to him a little tighter. "I'm... Dizzy, light headed." She muttered, closing her eyes to try and stop the feeling of the world spinning around her.

Tears slid down his cheeks, but he made no attempts to wipe them away. He let them fall as he pulled Norah closer, letting his strong arms support her. In his embrace, he could feel how tiny, how fragile she had become. She seemed to weigh almost nothing.

"What happened to you?" he all but choked out as he drew enough away from her to take in another look. Her cheeks were sunken in, and she looked sallow faced, as though she had not a morsel of food or a speck of sunlight since she had left. He remembered the last time he saw her, before she had left for work. Their conversation had been rushed, as he had been leaving for work and their nanny had just gotten the kids out for a walk in the park. Caleb remembered asking Norah to grab groceries on the way home from the office, and to not buy soy milk again because it was chalky. That was it. No 'I love you', no 'have a nice day' ; they had become comfortable and routine...and Caleb had regretted that every day since.

"The kids are great, but you...you're not alright. Here, let me--" and without much effort at all, Caleb lifted her light body up and carried her into the living room, setting her down on the couch. "Just, just sit there a moment, and I'll make you something, alright." he said quickly, heading to the kitchen and going haphazardly through the cupboards. Alex began to speak up, wondering what her father was doing, but Caleb quieted her down. "Take your brother to your room please, and wait there til I say you can come out, alright?" his tone was urgent, and Alex did not question, she just grabbed Roman by the hand and disappeared into the room they shared. Caleb wanted the kids to be with their mother, to see her...but not like this...

Hands finding a large mug, he filled it with water and shoved it into the microwave. Tea...tea was good. Crouching down, he dug through the under pantry until he found a can of chicken noodle soup.... that would be good, right? In a matter of anxious minutes, Caleb had everything together - a cup of tea, sugar and cream on the side, and a bowl of soup. Taking two trips, he brought everything out to Norah, and sat down on the couch beside her.

"I think we need to call the police and get you to the hospital..."

"It's... A long story." She whispered softly. She was tired, exhausted, all she could think about was sitting down and eating. She knew he wanted, needed to know what had happened. She was scared, not really such if she felt ready to talk about it, but... She knew she'd have to. Surely the cops would need to know every detail, and she definitely wasn't going to withhold it from him after so long of his worrying.

As he picked her up, she leaned her head against his shoulder and smiled softly. For the first time in a long time, she finally felt safe, comfortable, cared for. He brought her to the living room and sat her down on the couch. After telling her to wait while he made something for her, she nodded her head and tucked her legs up onto the couch next to her. She waited patiently, gazing around her home. It felt strange being back, amazing, but strange.

Glancing up as he returned, bringing her tea and then soup, she smiled and brought her leg back to the ground so she could properly eat. "Thank you." She said softly as she brought the tea to her lips and took a sip. "So... What happened..." She began before taking a deep breath to calm her nerves. "I... Was taken, or kidnapped. I was stuck in some kind of... Basement, or... Dungeon, or something. This guy was doing some kind of experiment." She said, chewing on her lip nervously before taking a spoonful of soup. "I... don't really know what he was doing, and I was left alone a lot. I only just managed to get away with some help from one of his assistants."

As she finished, she glanced over to him and nodded when she heard his suggestion about the cops and hospital. It was likely needed. She knew she was sick, malnourished, and the doctors would know how to safely get her back on track. "Y-Yeah... Okay." She replied.
