With no clients to tend to and the sun shining brightly overhead, the young brunette felt a gentle smile fall upon her lips. Looking at Scout who was currently resting in his dog bed. Or at least he appeared to be though she was sure he was awake enough to know if she moved or not. While she normally tended to avoid leaving her house during the colder months, she couldn't get over the beautiful weather they were currently having. Deciding to risk it for the opportunity at a nice day out in the park. Slowly moving away from the window of the small little house she had gotten for herself. Looking at the shepherd who almost immediately lifted his head making her smile. Moving over to him and gently bending down to run her fingers over his head. Letting him gently nuzzle into her as she kissed his head softly. Reaching over for his leash and his harness to put on him. Watching him stretch and sit himself up on his feet to better help her out.

"Good boy...I think you and I need to get some fresh air. What do you think?" she asked the shepherd with a smile.

Laughing as the canine gave a few gentle barks in return as she shook her head in amusement. Moving to slip his service dog harness around him that let people know he was working. Clipping his head harness on as she went about preparing for them to leave. Hearing the gentle clicking of paws on the hardwood as he followed her into the entranceway. Slipping into her shoes and grabbing her winter jacket to wrap around her body. Silly to some, but with a body prone to illness in the winter she wasn't taking any chances. Making sure she had everything she needed as she clipped Scout's leash onto him. Deciding to grab herself a book to read for a little bit which she put in her purse. Shouldering it delicately as she checked to make sure she had everything. Pausing to grab herself the bottle of water she almost always carried with her.

Assured that it was filled, she stepped out of her house once again into the crisp, autumn world. Locking the house up with her house keys as she looked back over at Scout. Reminding herself that she could do this as she slowly made her way off the front steps. Taking a gentle walk down towards the park that was near her house. The shepherd following idly at her side as they headed off down the sidewalk. Greeting a few of her neighbours that happened upon them. Smiling gently as she hummed quietly to herself as a means of comfort. Continuing on in this fashion until she saw the beginning of the park in the distance. Her steps picking up a little in her excitement as she made her way inside the grounds. Breathing in the fresh air and wildflowers that had made their home here as well. Looking at the trees that were already starting to change color making her smile.

She walked for a little while keeping off the busy pathways as much as she dared. Scout keeping everyone at arms length as he had been trained. Assuring her as much comfort as her silent companion could. Looking for a good spot to sit and relax for a little while. Taking a few sips of her water when she felt her throat getting dry. Something she associated with coming from the other side. Noting a few men looking in her direction though thankfully most kept to themselves. Sighing gently as she noted a park bench just under the shade of a tree. With nobody else around, she decided to make her way to it. Sitting herself down and settling in for a while as she tried to calm herself manually. Scout brushing up against her as she ran her fingers over his muzzle.

A few moments of relaxation exercises and she was able to pull out her book. Slowly opening it to where she had last stopped reading to start once more. The Secret Garden, one of her all time favourite books. Enjoying a few moments to herself as Scout sat beside her watching the world go by. That was until a man made his way over to the pretty girl all on her own. Finding her beauty alluring to him as he stepped up to the bench. Scout being quick to put some distance between her and the newcomer as she heard a cough making her look up.

"I couldn't help but notice you were alll alone milady," he replied to her.

"I like my quiet time," replied the young woman shortly as she found herself tensing.

"Why is that I wonder? Certainly a beauty like you should be there to be regarded by all."

"Not interested."

"Well that's a pity...may I sit?"

"I really rather you didn't," murmured the girl as she started getting anxious.

Scout doing his best to control the situation as he put himself between his girl and the man. Giving her as much space as the leash would allow him to give her. Yet still attempting to give her his comfort from time to time. Anything to relieve her stress as was his job with regards to her. Desiree pursing her lips as she thought perhaps it was best to leave. Closing her book and getting up to leave to try and distance herself. The man though didn't like that as he attempted to reach for her anyways.

"Well wait now..where are you going?" he questioned her.

Desiree quickly trying to evade his touch as she tried to tune him out. In her haste she dropped her book but she didn't care at the moment. Her fear taking over her as flashbacks came to her of a similiar young man with much darker intentions. Flinching as he grabbed hold of her arm which she tried desperately to wrench free.

"Hey let me go..get off me," she insisted as Scout growled a little beside her but stayed where he was.

To say he was protective of his girl was a bit of an understatement. And this man certainly wasn't making it easy on him as he tried to push him gently back. Yet the man didn't take no for an answer as he ignore the service dog to try and get closer to her.

"No...because I think deep down you want this."

It was Fall time, but it did not seem that way to the former Doberman. After all, he was used to leaves changing and the temperature going down. That was New York though, this city was San Francisco. It was warmer than his precious New York, not to mention it seemed like the only trees around these parts were palm trees or evergreens, whose leaves never changed color. It was sad, and sometimes it made him want to visit this side of the portal’s New York, however then he would not be close to his home… and maybe even his brother. He sighed as he looked out of his apartment’s windows, as he thought about all of this. Perhaps a run in the park would help calm this restlessness mind of his, so he could get on with his day.

After checking the weather, he pulled on a long-sleeved shirt, jogger’s pants, and a ski hat. This would keep him warm, not to mention if he did sweat, it would help burn off calories, so he could stay fit and healthy. Perhaps there was more than one benefit to this run then he originally thought, smiling at the thought as he pulled on runner’s shoes before heading to the park.

Once he arrived he noticed that the green space had fewer people there than usual. Perhaps it was because he was coming here first thing in the morning instead of late morning when everyone was just starting to arrive. Or maybe it had something to do with the ‘chill in the air’. Whatever reason Dae was happy to deal with this amount of people as he made his way over to a sunspot to start stretching his muscles.

It was during this time that a young woman and her dog walked on past his spot. As he sat there in the warm grass, he watched her for she was very pretty. Sure, he was an escort but most of his clients were older women, which meant no eye candy for him. Even though he liked what he saw, he was not stupid enough to go up to her and it all had to do with the shepherd. From what he remembered of that breed, back when he was an attack dog, they were fiercely loyal towards their humans. Not to mention a pain to try and fight off when they had come up to him and his brother. He wanted to go over but dealing with his fellow canine was not what he had in mind today, so he went back to this stretching, finishing them before going for that run he had come here for.

He was going at a good clip, it felt like one of the better runs he had done, at this point. For his heart rate was staying steady as he was coming upon the pretty one and her guard dog. Except, this time there was a man with them. At first, Dae thought, [i]She has a man… lucky guy.[i] And was going to just jog on past, so as not to seem like a creep. However, as he got closer to the couple and the dog he started noticing the body language between the two humans. The dog’s was especially calling out to him, for it made the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. This was not in fright but in an aggressive manner, for whatever this guy was doing, the woman and the dog were not liking it. He did not like what was happening in front of him.

So instead of running on by, which was the first plan, he went right up to the man’s back, just in time to hear the guy’s last words as he came to a stop. ”Now who in their right mind would want you, after hearing those sort of words?” Questioning the words as he came around to be, at the woman’s side. ”Sorry for keeping you waiting, dear. I just had to get in that last lap.” He spoke bending down to grab the downed book. ”You dropped your book.” Handing her the treasure, before turning towards the man, with a look that could only be considered as dark and murderous. ”Now then, unless you want to swallow your teeth. I suggest you leave my girl alone.” A growl like noise came from a deep part of his chest as he spoke while wrapping his arm around the woman’s figure. Something told him that he would have to apologize later but right now, he felt like this was necessary. ”Sound like a plan to you?” That deep growl of a voice continued as the attack dog looked at the man, watching and waiting to see want he might do at this point.

An icy chill ran down her back as Desiree stopped struggling to face the man. Her heart pounding loud in her chest as she stared at him. Finding panic start to sink in as she stood there frozen and unresponsive much to the man's delight. Scout was still growling however as he attempted to put himself between the man and his girl. Managing to push them breaking the hold that was on the verge of breaking her wrist. Annoying the man thoroughly as he looked at the shepherd moments before a jogger came up to them seemingly out of nowhere. Breaking Desiree from her fear induced state of submission as she backed away. Already she found herself starting to hyperventilate as her PTSD came to the forefront of her mind. Refocusing Scout's attention as he turned to her attempting to bring her out of her state. Just catching the runner's words about who would want this man after behaving like he was to her. Tensing up almost immediately as the jogger than came to stand next to her.

Her words catching in her throat as nothing more than air escaped her lips. Finding herself lightheaded as her breathing became quicker by the minute. Memories of another man with a bad attitude coming to the forefront of her mind. Her vision going black until a bark pulled her from her crushing panic. Blinking a few times a she looked down towards Scout and only just catching the last of the runner's words about keeping her waiting. Opening and closing her mouth as she was taken aback by his words. Even Scout seemed a bit unsure as he cocked his head to the side. Returning his attention to her as though awaiting orders as she reached down to pet his head. Trying to find her voice amidst the fear that kept her at bay. Unable to handle much more than a gentle shrug watching him bend down to collect her book. Gently offering it back to her as she smiled shyly at her savior knowing not quite what to say.

"Oh....that...that's alright," lied Desiree as she tried to gather her thoughts.

Using her hand commands to tell Scout to back down as he came back over to her side. Allowing her to rub his ears as she looked at the man that had grabbed her and the runner. Finding herself rubbing the spot where she had been grabbed as she let the other man speak for her. The book now all but forgotten as the man seemed quite livid with the interruption. Listening to the man defend her quite vehemently despite not knowing her at all. Something she had never expected but for the rare exception of Nick. Put off guard yet again by the man wrapping his arms around her in an attempt to act like a doting boyfriend. Unaware of how much pressure he was putting on her by the single act alone. Her whole body tensing up strongly as she could only duck her head to avoid showing her distress. Scout looking back at the initial threat as he sized him up.

"I think sir you need to mind your damn business. The lady and I were just having a friendly chat," lied the man as he looked at the intruder.

Scout growling a little more protectively as he chose to stand between his girl and the man. His eyes on the petite brunette in the unwanted man's arms as he seemed to want to challenge him. However, with Scout standing there he was less eager to advance on her. Scout then turning back to Desiree as he became concerned for her, torn between his job as a service dog and a loyal protective companion. Whatever Desiree might have said though was swiftly put on hold when she lurched forward and threw up just barely missing the young man or Scout for that matter. Scout moving to her side to use as a support as she was sick on the grass giving the man the opportunity to make a grab for her.
