It hadn't taken William long to realize that trying to drive around San Francisco was sometimes impossible. Luckily for him, he lived there and found that walking to where he needed to get wasn't bad. The gym was just enough outside of downtown that he could drive there from his apartment. And from there, it was certainly easier to walk down to the Warf on Saturday afternoons than to try driving there. Not to mention parking.

Will had found that he rather enjoyed the walk from the gym as well. It wasn't a short one, but it was also wasn't like he had somewhere to be at a certain time on Saturday afternoons. Once his class was over, he was a free man until Monday morning when school started again. Taking a deep breath, he found that his feet carried him easily along the familiar path while he allowed his mind to wander. Thoughts of home and Camelot filled him on this particular Saturday afternoon. Perhaps it was the weather or just the sense of missing home that brought on the memories. It was still hard to believe that it had been five years since the darkness had taken everything from him. He still sought the people of his kingdom, sought to ensure that they were safe, he was their king after all. Even if the land he'd ruled was gone. Time had taken it's toll on Will and his search for the missing in this world. He'd asked that Haven Hill contact him if anyone from Camelot ever came to them. But only one name had come up so far. The dear, brave knight Kayley. And that had been nearly a year ago since Will had learned her name in this realm. Somehow his search for her had constantly been put off.

It wasn't that he didn't want to find Kayley, it was just that this world had taken so much of his time without his really even realizing it. But as Will walked, he promised himself that he'd make an effort to find her again. If only he could remember her name in this realm. It was one of those that he was certain if he heard it again he'd remember, but for the moment, only the name Kayley stuck with him. Sighing, he glanced at his watch, hoping that he'd be able to go to Haven Hill to get her name again. But the hour told him that they'd be closed and he'd have to wait until Monday. It was something he promised himself that he'd do as the sights, sounds and smells of the Warf finally began to reach him. There was little he could do at the moment and he vowed to spend his remaining time for the day enjoying this world.

Reaching the Warf, Will eased himself into the crowd and slowly worked his way through it. Weaving in and out of small gatherings of people at all of the tourist places. He'd been among them in his first few months here, fascinated by everything this realm had to offer. How different everything was from the way it had been in Camelot. The long pier that stretched out into the ocean was a place that was so very different from his world, but it also reminded him of home. Finding a quiet spot along the pier, William stopped and leaned against the railing, gazing out at the ocean beyond, listening to the way the waves crashed against the pillars of the pier. It was easy to see the coastline of his kingdom here, imagine the waves crashing into the rocks as he and his knights had road along the cliff's edge.

In the years that she'd been in the city, switching regularly between her life as Brenna the kickboxing instructor in San Francisco and Brenna the resistance fighter and former knight of Camelot, she had had plenty of opportunities to see the differences between this world and the world she'd been forced to leave behind when the darkness fell around them. And all in all, she had to admit that this world had its perks, one of them being how much more smoothly it ran on the regular than her own had. There were little conveniences in almost everything about this city. There were gyms where she could go to work out rather than risking life and limb or very nearly giving her mother a heart attack free running around the farm where she grew up,. There were coffee shops where she could get her fix after a long night to keep herself going. Cars and buses meant to take a person from point A to point B in place of their feet or a horse. And then there was the ease of finding work as a woman in this world where in Camelot, most women were left to tend to their homes and farms while their husbands traveled and made names for themselves.

Of course, if she was being honest, the latter was the most appealing of the changes in her life. She had managed to become a knight back home, to finally follow in her father's footsteps as she'd always dreamed of doing. But that feat had required that she prove herself by finding Excalibur when it was stolen, bringing it back to Camelot to return to Arthur, and saving the kingdom with her friends when Ruber and his metal henchmen attacked. It wasn't exactly a standard initiation ritual from her understanding, and certainly more than other knights had had to do to prove their worth as protectors of the kingdom and their king. Just another way that she had struggled to follow her dreams back home where the world was now opening its arms to her. Really, there was no shortage of ways that this world could make life easier, both for her and for others, she was sure, but that was only a bandaid for the pain she felt being away from home. It couldn't take away her memories of her mother and King Arthur, of Devon and Cornwall, of Garrett...nor could it take away the pain of not knowing where they were or if and when she would ever see them again. It was these little conveniences that had made it more bearable for her to know that she couldn't go home, that she couldn't see her mother or her king or sit at the round table beside Garrett...these small things that she focused on to keep herself grounded, to keep from panicking about all of the time she had spent searching and failing to find her loved ones.,

The waves lapped against the sides of the wharf, and she closed her eyes, the way the water crashed and spilled over itself reminding her of all the days she and her father and mother had gone to the shore to look out over the water and watch the waves crash against the rocks. It was a soothing sound, one that always reminded her of where she came from, where she so desperately wanted to get back to one day. Opening her eyes and looking up from the folder of paperwork situated in her lap, the brunette frowned, looking out across the water and breathing in the salty sea air, her fingers drumming gently against the documents she'd been working her way through. Sometimes, it was easier for her to focus on paperwork when she could do it somewhere other than her office at the studio, when she was out in the fresh air, but somehow, even that didn't seem to be helping as much as it usually did... She was too lost in her memories, in all the things she feared she'd never see again if they weren't able to push back the darkness that had invaded their home and destroyed so much of what they loved.

The wind swept by, pushing and pulling her hair this way and that as it breezed into her face, obscuring her view of the papers in her lap. With a smile, though, she closed her eyes again, shaking her hair from her face and tilting her head back to catch the feeling of the wind against her skin. It was rougher than usual, continuing to whip her hair around her face, and to turn the waves out at sea choppy and harsh, colliding over and over with each other and thrashing against the sides of the pier. She could almost feel the subtle way that the water shoved against the pillars that held the pier in place, just barely swaying the structure with it's force. She lifted her hand absently to brush her hair from her face again, forgetting for a moment that she was holding onto her papers, and the wind breezed by again and lifted a few of them along with it, paper flapping in the wind as they flew away from her. Her eyes darted open at the sound, and she was up in a second, speeding towards the railing and throwing herself against it as she reached out to barely catch a slip between her fingers. Letting out a breath, she slipped it into her folder as she turned and sprinted after the other, calling out to anyone she bumped into that she was sorry as she went. "Please, please, can you catch that paper?" she cried out to a man leaning against the railing as the page fluttered to the ground at his feet, still sprinting in his direction in case it took off again. But the wind still at least for the moment, and she slowed herself down just enough that she wouldn't ram into him as she grew nearer.

As the wind picked up around him, Will let his eyes close and the memories of the past take him. It was easy to get lost in them as he longed for the people that he'd lost. The darkness taking his kingdom had been one of the hardest things he'd gone through, not even losing Excalibur had been that hard. The ordeal with Excalibur had led him to see a change in people, in the way the world worked. Kayley had reminded him that he had to rely on all the people of his kingdom, not just his knights. It was she that had reminded him of that young boy he'd once been, the boy who had pulled the sword from the stone and become king. No one had expected much from him back then, but he'd made a name for himself, had made Camelot into something to be proud of.

A shout broke through his memories though and William opened his eyes, blinking at the rush of sunlight as he turned towards the commotion. For a moment his eyebrows knitted together in confusion until the woman that was running along the pier shouted to him as a paper fluttered to the ground, dangerously close to falling from the edge of the pier into the water if another gust came by. Stooping, Will collected the paper, carefully being sure not to crumple it, as he held it until the woman slowed herself to a stop. Holding out the paper to the brunette, William smiled gently at her. "Did you lose any others?" He asked, noting her almost disheveled look from having run down the pier chasing this one paper that he'd seen.

Notes; Ummm this is really short and crappy. Sorry, I couldn't think of much for him to say to her or do without it just feeling awkward since she hadn't said anything to him yet!
